(A) Financial Aid 

Financial Aid is only available to applicants of credit programs under the School of Theology (English and Chinese).  Financial aid is not available for applicants under the School of Counseling. Applicants enrolling in part-time studies or in one-year full-time programs are not eligible for financial aid.

Types of Financial Aid available

  1.  Academic Expenses (Tuition, Registration, Student Welfare, Library fees)

  2.  Living Expenses (Hostel Accommodation Fee, Monthly Living Allowance)

Letters of Recommendation

Applicants for financial aid must submit two letters of recommendations with their application from:

  1.  The senior pastor or member of your church’s board (recommendations from denominational leadership is an advantage); and

  2.  A Church or Christian organization located in Singapore or Malaysia.

Requirements for Financial Aid Application

TARGET RECIPIENTS

Financial aid is for students who demonstrate financial need. It is open to international students for programs under the School of Theology and priority is given to students from Asia. Current students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7.

COVERAGE

Financial aid covers tuition fees, and may extend to include registration fee, student welfare fee, library fee, hostel accommodation fee, and living allowance.

PROGRAM ADMISSION & CONTINUATION

Applicants must meet all requirements for admission and continuation of their programs.

CHARACTER & MINISTRY

Financial Aid Applicants should:

  1. Possess exemplary Christian character and conduct.

  2. Display a clear desire to serve in full-time Christian ministry.

  3. Perform well in field education.

Applicants who demonstrate significant Christian ministry in a leadership position will be at an advantage.

OBLIGATIONS

Financial Aid Applicants are required to:

  1. Fulfil his/her Field Education where Field Education is part of the program of study. 

  2. Serve in a function as assigned by TCA College for a specified number of hours every week during term time and term break.

  3. Contribute actively and enthusiastically in college life and student activities

  4. Make a meaningful contribution to TCA College. This will be determined by TCA College.

  5. Serve full-time in a church/Christian organization in their home country for at least 2 years upon completion of the program of study.

 

Note: (1),(2), and (3) are applicable to onsite students only. (4) is applicable to online students only.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. TCA College has the jurisdiction over the number of credits to be taken each term.

  2.  TCA College may, at its sole discretion, amend the terms and conditions of the sponsorship at any time.

  3.  Failure to comply with the terms and conditions as stated may result in TCA College terminating the sponsorship.  Should the sponsorship be terminated by either TCA College or the student, the student will be required to repay all sponsorship monies disbursed.

The applicant must provide as much information as possible and supplement this application with supporting documents listed in the application form.

DURATION

Financial aid will be reviewed annually. A new application for financial aid must be submitted if it is needed in the next year.

(B) Scholarships
Brash Scholarships

The Brash Scholarship was established by Murray Bruce Brash who was born in Eastbourne, England in 1913 and studied law at Cambridge. Thereafter he came to Singapore to work with Allen and Gledhill, a well-known law firm, before and after the war, retiring in 1959. He died on 24 August 1982. It was his greatest desire that through this Trust for scholarships, men of sound character and academic quality will be prepared to occupy positions of leadership, ministry and mission outreach in the church of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The conditions for award are:

  1.  Applicants must be male Malaysian, male Indonesian, or male Chinese citizens of Singapore 

  2.  Applicants must be of an approved Protestant denomination or background

  3.  Applicants must be born-again Evangelicals of sound character 

  4.  Applicants must be preparing for full-time Christian work/missionary service and

  5.  Applicants must be financially needy

Bobby Sng Scholarship for Theological Studies (BSSTS)

Rationale

The scholarship uses the name of the late Dr Bobby Sng to celebrate his life and ministry, especially in the three areas he is most passionate about: in Bible missions, in community service, and in youth work. Hence, the scholarship aims to fund students pursuing theological studies who aspire to serve or already involved in the above three areas.

Scope

Students pursuing theological studies involved in the following works:

  1. Bible Missions

  2. Community Service

  3. Youth Work

 

Awarding Conditions

The BSSTS is awarded to deserving persons who fulfil the following criteria:

  • Wish to pursue first degree in theological studies (undergraduate or postgraduate) in a Singapore theological institution. The relevance of the chosen courses will be decided by the Scholarship Committee.

  • The current approved Singapore theological institutions are:

    • ACTS College

    • Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS)

    • Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST)

    • Discipleship Training Centre (DTC)

    • East Asia School of Theology (EAST)

    • Singapore Bible College (SBC)

    • TCA College

    • Trinity Theological College (TTC)

  • Commit to work or serve in the following areas for at least three (3) years after graduation:

    • Bible Missions

    • Community Service

    • Youth Work

 

Application Criteria

All applications to BSSTS must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be Singaporean or PR

  • Applicant must be an active member of a local church

  • Applicant must be in financial needs

  • Applicant must complete the application forms and submit all the required documents

 

Application to BSSTS is open throughout the year, however the Scholarship Committee will usually deliberate and make the awarding decision at least once a year.

Detailed Terms and Conditions

  • Scholarship is prioritized to be awarded to those who are about to enter their theological study. Exception will be decided by the Scholarship Committee.

  • There is no age limit for the applicant. Grant will be given based on the applicant’s potential, character, and commitment to the scope of the scholarship.

  • Scholarship will only be disbursed to those who are already admitted to the undergraduate program of one of the above theological institutions, either full-time or part-time (official admission letter is required)

  • Scholarship will cover academic/tuition fees and book allowances, excluding accommodation, meal plan, and other expenses (like mission trips, insurance, etc.)

  • The scholarship recipient must sign and undertake the following:

“I solemnly declare that should I be awarded a Bobby Sng Scholarship for Theological Studies (BSS TS); I will undertake the following:

  • That on completion of the degree/studies for which the BSS TS has been awarded, I shall be involved in full time work in the area of bible missions, community service, or youth work, for at least 3 years, failing which I shall return the scholarship award in full to the scholarship committees

  • That during the period of my studies, I shall send written reports to the Scholarship Committees at the end of each term/semester, informing of my academic progress as well as personal developments. The Scholarship Committees reserve the right to cease further scholarship payments or demand return of the scholarship award if academic results or other factors do not justify further support

  • That I shall do my utmost, God being my helper, to complete with merit or better, the course of study for which the BSS TS has been awarded, so as to be a faithful and responsible steward of God’s gracious provision.

  • The scholarship recipient is encouraged to do their ministry internship, as required by their theological institution, at the organizations related to the scope of the scholarship.

  • The scholarship recipient is not allowed to change their theological institution or course of study.
